This document reviews the genotoxicity, carcinogenicity, developmental, and reproductive effects of perfluorooctanoate (PFOA) based on available animal and human studies, concluding that while laboratory studies indicate potential health hazards, these effects have not been observed in worker populations, suggesting PFOA does not present an unreasonable risk to human health.
